Assessment and Intervention Services

Other court-directed services are available to assist parents in resolving disputes concerning child-related issues. Parties may apply to the Court to access these services, or the Court may direct parties to these services.

    • Brief Conflict Intervention (Provincial Court only) - where parenting time / contact is at issue, the Court may direct parents into this process. This is available only after mediation has been attempted first to resolve issues. Parents meet with a psychologist or social worker who educates them about the adverse effects of parental conflict and explores ways of solving problems in the future. A summary report is submitted to court outlining areas of agreement and / or disagreement at the conclusion of the seven week intervention.
